2023 Boys House League: Grades K

Thank you for your interest in Branford Youth Lacrosse! Prior to registering, please read the information below in its entirety.

 

Costs: BYL fee for this program is $145. Additionally, each participant is required to have a renewed US Lacrosse membership ($30).

 

US Lacrosse Membership: Mid-way through BYL registration you will be redirected to the USL website where you can pay online for the USL renewal. You will then be redirected back to the BYL website to complete the BYL registration and separately pay online for BYL. 

 

Format:This is a Co-Ed program that is an introduction to the game of lacrosse for boys in K-1st and girls in K-2nd. The program will teach the fundamentals of lacrosse in a fun, positive and safe environment.

 

Equipment: The only required equipment is a lacrosse stick. Boys should have a boys' lacrosse stick and girls a girls' lacrosse stick. Drills will be run using soft practice lacrosse balls. Boys will not wear full equipment for this program.

 

Length: The lacrosse season starts in the beginning of April and ends in mid-June.

 

Practices: There will be a 1hr, 15 min practice each week that will be on Sunday from 9:00am-10:15am.

 

Games: No official games against other towns will be played.

Costs: For grades 3-8, the fee for this program is $250. For grades K-2, the fee is $145. Additionally, each participant is required to have a renewed US Lacrosse membership ($30) and to purchase their uniform.

 

US Lacrosse Membership: Mid-way through BYL registration you will be redirected to the USL website where you can pay online for the USL renewal. You will then be redirected back to the BYL website to complete the BYL registration and separately pay online for BYL. 

 

Uniforms: Each player will be required to purchase a game jersey and shorts. We will be sending out information regarding uniform sizing in February.

 

Teams: The number of teams will be based on the number of players that register. Ideally the teams will be set by grade year (i.e., a 5th grade team or two 5th grade teams). However, based on registration numbers, some grade years might need to be combined (i.e., a 5th/6th grade team). All players will be placed on a team. No prior experience required. Each player is required to play on the team that is in accordance with his or her grade in school. No player, regardless of skill or experience, will be allowed to play on any other team except for the extremely rare situation that another team needs additional players to field a full team for a game.

 

Equipment: Girls are required to have cleats, sneakers, mouth guard, goggles, and a girl’s lacrosse stick. Boys are required to have cleats, sneakers, mouth guard, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, lacrosse gloves, a protective cup, and a boy’s lacrosse stick.

 

Length: Preseason starts in March. The lacrosse season starts in late March and ends in early June.

 

Practices: Practices will vary per team. A third practice will likely be added each week but it is dependent on game schedule. We will practice at either Walsh or Young's Pond.

Players in Grades 3 & 4 will play 7 vs 7 games on smaller sized fields. Players in Grades 5-8 will play 10 vs 10 games on full sized fields.

 

Travel Team Commitment Policy: All players and parents are required to read our Travel Team Commitment Policy prior to registering. By continuing through the registration process, you are acknowledging that you have read and understood the policy and will adhere to it throughout the season.
